Hi everyone! I'm Gohan. I'm not really a hardcore collector (as you can see by my small 'collection'!). Recently though, I've started to collect certain figures from anime that I watched and loved as a kid. I must admit though, collecting can be quite addictive albeit expensive! Thanks for stopping by!
TV serie(s)
Anime: Pokemon (first 2 gens), Dragonball Ball Z, Yu-Gi-Oh! (Duel Monsters). Shows: Game of Thrones, Big Bang Theory, HIMYM, The Flash
Harry Potter, The Hunger Games
Old Pokemon games, Crash Bandicoot, Tekken, Tomb Raider

Gohan (1 jaar geleden) #16737510View spoilerHide spoilerDude!!! I'm so jelly, I'm not gonna lie. It sounds amazing! Being in a completely new environment, sightseeing and all while getting paid for it!! How did you find the food there? Are you generally a fussy eater? =P I imagine it would be a completely different food culture. It is something that I would like to do in the future, given the chance as well. Ideally, in America but with everything like sponsors, visas, etc, it's a bit much. I did look into it briefly.
I stayed for 3 nights in New York and 4 nights in Las Vegas. They were both amazing but polar opposites of each other. New York was, as expected, ridiculously hectic. It felt like a much bigger London. Vegas was really chilled out and you could spend a while just at the different hotels. I've been to to Florida twice before but yeah, this definitely felt like the proper American experience. In Florida, with Disney and everything, it was mainly tourists. The highlights of the holiday were definitely Times Square, Cirque du Soleil and Grand Canyon. One thing that really surprised me was how extremely friendly people were, especially in NY. I stopped to look at the tube map (do you guys call it the tube or the subway?) and I had people immediately stop and ask where I was looking to go. Also, a couple of people just asked me to talk because of the accent, which I didn't expect but it was definitely amusing! ^^
Yup! You really can't appreciate just how amazing the Grand Canyon is until you're there. Really unbelievable experience. It is something that I would consider in the future again so will keep those noted!
Ooh nice! Hahaha, I completely get the too many hobbies and not enough time! Ahh Overwatch? I played it non-stop when it was free for a weekend but didn't end up buying it. It was super fun though. Which character do you play as? Are you playing anything else at the moment or is it mainly Overwatch and other hobbies? Christmas has also made everything really hectic but I love this time of year. Have you done all your shopping? Any plans?
Hoo boy sorry for the long response. The food took a little while to get used to but after a while I really started to like it. I can be kind of picky about my vegetables but they were always prepared well enough haha. Food on the mine was super healthy but I was surprised by the variety. There were always lots of beans, meat (mostly chicken/fish), fruit juice and vegetables and you always received a dessert of some sort. My favorites from the trip were probably paella, empanadas (kind of like a fried dough pocket full of meat and/or cheese), and this thing called "completo chileno" which is basically a Chilean hot dog loaded up with tomatoes, avocados, and mayonaise. Chileans like to put mayonaise on a ton of stuff, it was always available in the condiment bar hahaha. I didn't have a microwave or stove during the weekends so that time was spent pigging out on cheap supermarket food. I received a food stipend each weekend so I mostly bought stuff from there instead of eating out to save money...by the end of the trip I saved over a grand in food money alone. I quite miss that miner diet, I lost 8 lbs by the end of it and was in the best shape of my life. :')

That's quite a bit of travelling for that short of a time period :o I could probably spend at least a week just in NY! We Americans are pretty open to chatting randomly, I imagine that's pretty different compared to the UK hehe. I'm surprised by how friendly people were in NY to you, must be the accent :p I've never heard the term the tube, that's awesome. We just call it the subway. And oh I'm so jealous, I've always wanted to go to a Cirque du Soleil show. It's on my bucket list, maybe someday.

NOOOOO I love OW, you should play! It's on sale now too. It's great if you can get a 6-stack going because then you get placed against another team of friends. I used to mostly play Widowmaker since I like sniping but now all I do is play D.Va since I like to tank up front and push the payload since everyone else tends to push ahead -_- I also really enjoy Soldier, he's kind of an all-around character but if you can aim he will kill so many people. I keep wanting to get good at other heroes but I really suck at them...other than that I've been playing FFXV. I'm finally almost done with it but then there's a ton of side missions and stuff to complete. If you like RPGs I really recommend you give this one a try - I haven't played a full FF game since I was a teenager but this one is a lot of fun.

The holidays have been nuts x_x I like this time of year but for some reason I just haven't been in the spirit. I spent most of the time with my family and luckily did all my shopping online so I didn't need to face the crowds Xmas Eve. Lately I've just been relaxing, I took a week off from work after Christmas since I had leftover vacation time. I'm just so ready for 2016 to end haha. I hope your Christmas and New Years were lovely :D

Gohan (1 jaar geleden) #16155979View spoilerHide spoilerChile must have felt SO different. Was that part of the job you started last year or something new? I remember you started new work in your field so how's that now? Ha, me too! If not travelling, I at least want to make the effort to go on shorter but more frequent holidays (sorry, vacation!). I hear the UK's good for a visit. ^^
I actually flew to New York and Las Vegas. Popped over to Arizona to go (I'm sure you can guess where?) View spoilerHide spoilerGrand Canyon which was absolutely amazing. I do actually want to go back to AZ in the future for an American Football game.
Hahaha! Depressing but so true! My new place allows me to finish relatively early so should hopefully have a bit more time to chill out now. How's your GKs coming along? It sounds like this year has given you more excuses to put them off? =P
Chile was definitely different hahaha! I was stationed in the northern part of Chile (pretty much in the Atacama Desert), lived on a copper mine during the weekdays and then on the weekend I had to take a taxi back to Antofagasta where I stayed on the weekends. I did get a week in-between off and was able to do a little sightseeing which was nice :D Yup, I'm still working at the same place; we are pretty busy tbh, we've got about 4-5 active projects going on in the lab for different clients and I'm pretty much the only tech there...I'm just super efficient I guess :') I can't complain too much though, I like the steady flow and keeping busy. I'd love to take off more time to visit (especially the UK hehe), maybe someday :p

New York and Las Vegas are definitely places to go if you want that full American city experience hahaha. How long did you stay in each place? Did you enjoy them? What surprised you most about Americans? It's been years since I've been to either of those cities, the latest big city I've been to is probably Seattle. Also a very nice place to visit! And OH isn't it beautiful?! The Grand Canyon is one of those places that you look at in photos and you're like "ah OK that's cool" but in person it is absolutely mind-blowing. I've only been there twice in my life but both times I've been overwhelmed and in awe - it almost looks like you're looking at a photo but it's real life. If you ever get the chance to visit again you should check out Sedona and Antelope Canyon. Those two places are on my to-visit list and are also supposed to be incredibly beautiful. Flagstaff is also interesting since it's not what people usually think of when they hear AZ lol.

The commute to work can seriously make or break your enthusiasm so I'm glad that you live a lot closer now. And HAH. I did manage to meet my 1 kit/year quota, I finished up this one a few weeks ago: PICTURE #1651831 Pretty proud of this one hehe. I was so excited after finishing this one I immediately started working on another one. Unfortunately I am also getting back into the game Overwatch so my enthusiasm has been pushed elsewhere again. Too many hobbies not enough time :(

Gohan (1 jaar geleden) #16081670View spoilerHide spoilerI know, I know!!! My bad! Think it's been, what? Slightly over a year now? I wanted to get on here ages ago to drop you a message but always found something to get in the way. Got a notification email about your birthday (surprising as I didn't used to get any notifications from here) and I felt like I had to!
Wow, that sounds awesome!! Where/how long did you go for? I actually visited your state as well earlier this year!
Everything's good, thanks! I've just started a new job that's started off really well. Looking back, some things are totally different now (mainly work-wise) but a lot hasn't changed at all - still useless at balancing pretending to be a responsible adult with everything else, as you can see by how long I've taken to message you!! =P
Really nice hearing back from you again!!! =)
Hahaha to be fair this year has really flown by, I can't believe it's already mid-November! I feel like I'll be on here for eternity so at least you always know how to find me LOL...

I ended up working in Chile for ~3 months early this year and then about a month ago I went to Vietnam for a week for a friend's wedding :o I may have been bitten by the travel bug, I really want to visit more places next year. What did you really?! What brought you to my part of the country?

Congrats on the new job! Adult life tends to be that way...you know you're getting old when your spare time is spent doing boring stuff like laundry, cooking, and cleaning and you're actually happy about finishing it because you're being productive lol. Glad to hear you're doing well though ^^

Gohan (2 jaar geleden) #3224761Yeah, I really didn't expect Daredevil to be this dark, especially after the really cheesy Ben Affleck film (speaking of which, the new trailer for Batman v Superman was freaking awesome!) but now it's set my expectations really high for anything I watch. Thinking something like Sherlock. Heroes Reborn starts pretty soon as well so that should be decent as the original was great. Not seen Akira before and I'm not proud to admit that I actually had to google what Wonder Festival was lol. So yup, you got that right! You see anything that interested you there?
I've been taking a step back from a lot of things recently: no more extremely tight schedules right now, not going to the gym crazy amounts in a week and not doing extra studies for the time being. It was all getting a bit too hectic. Interviewing for new jobs though (my current one's only temporary) and I'm 99% sure I'll be moving as well. How's your new place? Settled in yet? (I believe you were moving unless I'm going crazy) I assume you're still in the same state?
By the way, I was wondering how you display your figures? I've looked at detolfs which seem really great, especially for the price but since I don't have many figures, I was thinking just single display cases might be better (don't know any specialised sellers though). Haven't looked too much into it yet but just wanted to get some insight from a pro! ^^
Hi again! How have you been recently?

Have you finished Daredevil yet and if so how did you like it? I totally agree that now my expectations are set high for television, it was just that good to me haha. I'm not even sure if Sherlock is still going or not, I finished at Season 3 and I don't know if there's any more episodes out since they come out like every year. I heard about Heroes Reborn too, have you watched the original Heroes series? I feel like that aired back when I was in high school and I never got around to watching it so I wonder if it's necessary to know for the new series.

As for WF there really wasn't that much I liked, I think the only PVC figure I liked was ITEM #330951 since it will match another figure in my collection. That's probably for the best though since I should be spending my money on other stuff haha.

Wow has life changed for you recently then since we've last talked? If your schedule was too much it's probably for the best that you cut back a little bit...there's a difference between being busy/satisfied and busy/completelyoverwhelmed lol. I definitely moved, same state, and I'm all settled in now! It's a house which is a huge change from a small apartment so there are actual separate rooms for sleeping, computing, and cooking which is really nice. It's all tile though so my dog sometimes slips around the room when he gets excited lol. The nicest things about it though are (a) it's only ~6 minutes from work by car and ~10-15 by bike so I can finally start riding my bike again when it cools down :D and (b) it has a cool backyard which will be awesome to host parties at again when it cools down. We're renting right now but I'm not sure if I want to stay in the house after the lease is up since 3 bedrooms is kind of a lot and I feel like we could be paying less in rent and electric...but the commute is so nice it makes up for it. Oh well lol.

Detolfs are awesome and I currently display all my figures in them. The great thing about them is that you don't necessarily have to stuff just figures in them, they can hold any memorabilia or trinkets you want while still looking really professional. If you decide to buy a detolf I really recommend you buy some sort of lighting to put in them though since it makes a huge difference. Then it can function as a lamp too, e.g. my 3 detolfs currently light up the entire living room and make it look like a cinema lol. Some people like to use acrylic risers like www.displaybaza... to make certain figures stand out. I'm not sure if the price is any different or more expensive in Europe but they're only ~$70 USD here which is a steal. If all of that doesn't convince you here's a current picture of my setup with my dog: i.imgur.com/0jz... I guess the only downside is that it's hard to decide what to put on the bottom shelf since you'd essentially just be looking down at it. I'm lazy and don't really care but some people like to stack their detolfs on top of other shelves like www.ikea.com/us... to see everything better. Hopefully that wall of text will help you out lol.

Gohan (2 jaar geleden) #3149634Never heard of Protein Chef but it looks pretty good. Buff Dudes' Youtube channel is decent as well. Picked up some things from there but haven't used any yet.
Even though GoT kills off basically everyone, I was wasn't a big fan of killing off Jon Snow. They were hinting at how he was going to die all season though but that he'll also be brought back next season. Not even sure if Stannis is dead since when do they ever cut away from anything? It was alright but like you said, a bit predictable which it usually isn't.
I actually started Daredevil the other day. Only a few episodes in but really surprised by how good it is. Pretty dark and grounded as well. It fills my superhero fix after The Flash's first season. Was looking for something a bit longer to binge-watch but our Netflix really sucks compared to yours!
Awe well I totally expected something to happen to Jon Snow because of the books but now I'm really not sure what will happen since that was the last we ever heard of him ^^; They couldn't have made it any more obvious though that he'll be brought back with Melisandre coming in at the end lol. I don't even want to talk about Stannis, wth was up with him and the daughter scene? They made him out to be something completely different than what I thought so I have no idea what will happen with that. -_-

I'm glad to hear you're liking Daredevil so far!! I really love how gritty it is and I feel like the character development was really well done. I wasn't even a huge fan of Matt Murdock but he's grown on me a lot more and I hope he shows up in later MCU films. ALSO I don't know if you've ever watched Akira but the director who made Daredevil is going to be working on the live-action version of Akira! I don't know how they're gonna do it but I hope it's good.

Other than that how's life? I'd ask you if you are interested if anything this Wonder Festival but scouting out new figures doesn't seem like your forte haha

Gohan (2 jaar geleden) #3199549Truly amazed by your Pokemon collection!
lol thanks! :) There's still TONS more that hasn't been listed up on mfc yet but getting the time to list... is difficult XDDD
I went on a huge hiatus between generation 2-5 and came back on the most recent 6... really hard. XDDDD It's like 10 years of collection stuff catching up within one year lol! Sure keeps me on my toes. If you ever want to get into the collecting too I can definitely help! ;)

Gohan (2 jaar geleden) #3169754Thanks! Yeah, grew up with Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh! (and Dragon Ball Z) so I'm partial to those 3. Favourite Eeveelution? I gotta go with Jolteon myself. Made the games a bit awkward as I always liked to keep Pikachu in my party lol but always liked Jolteon.
Never been a big collector? *Looks at nearly 100 plushies* =P. Ha, I don't think I've seen as good of a Pokemon collection! Just wondering, did you get a lot of it directly from Japan? Can't find anything from the original series now; not sure if Japan's any different?
Thanks! =)

It's the same for me, even though I don't own any DBZ or YGO related goods haha. Jolteon! I guess I'm the same! But since Jolteon had very few HP I would always take Vaporeon instead (plus yay no problem to cross water /laughs/) But idk Jolteon has a little something *3*♥

Hahaha you should look at Splash's collection then! ( SPLASH ) She has so many Pokemon stuff, it's amazing o_o I have nothing compared to her haha.
As for your question, yep, I got most of my Pokemon stuff in Japan. I spent one year in Nagoya, so I had access to Pokecen and second hand stores (those are the best to find older merch, or recent merch for quite cheap!). Sadly it's so hard to find Pokemon stuff for decent prices if you're outside Japan :/

Gohan (2 jaar geleden) #3161710Hey Yumii! Just came across your profile and just had to say that your collection is freaking awesome! Your Pokemon collection is seriously amazing! Not gonna lie, slightly jealous!

Waah thank you!! I've never been a big collector compared to other persons here but Pokemon has all my love hehe♥
I see you have some great quality figures *3* I'm actually jealous of that Yami one!

Gohan (2 jaar geleden) #3097578Hey! REALLY sorry about the late reply (by the way, this is actually what a late reply is compared to yours!), but I was caught up in a lot of work (plus I don't get any notifications from here so it slipped my mind after a bit). Got crazy busy with actual work and not even been able to go gym/go out a lot because of it really.
That's cool about your job. Always makes it more enjoyable (tolerable?) when you work with people you get on with. I'm generally really easy-going and easy to get along with but you never know at work; always conscious of stepping on people's toes at work.
About my diet, I am really strict. I've been eating the same exact foods most days, measured out and everything. Makes it easier (but EXTREMELY boring) because I know I'm hitting my target calories and macros. I try and get it all in within 8 hours (so from 10 to 6) and spread several meals out evenly so I don't get tempted to snack. My final protein shake sometimes falls a bit after that timeframe but I feel it's much better to get instant protein after my workout. I also try to drink about 2 to 3 litres of water a day.
By the way, I finally caught up on GoT and after that final episode, I've decided I hate it. I don't know how they can keep doing this!
Noooo problemo, we are all busy people haha. I've had a lot going on too lately with work and moving so I have a lot less time to be on here. Being an adult sucks :c Hopefully your work is going well.

I'm pretty similar because I end up eating the same stuff every day but then my problem is that I get sick of it and don't want to eat it for a long time :< There's only so many ways you can prepare chicken or a salad or protein powder. Have you ever heard of this guy called The Protein Chef (maybe you told me about this...?)? There's a lot of really good filling recipes on his website that I'd like to try out.

Ugh I'm so pissed about GoT you don't even know! I was OK at first with the show but about halfway through this past season I just lost interest or it was so predicable and not in the way where I'd be excited about what was to come. It's also a pain because now I keep seeing articles all over the internet like "Emilia Clarke hints at what's to come for Jon Snow!" or "You'll never guess what's going to happen next season!" I don't want to know, I want to be surprised! So instead I just finished watching Daredevil on Netflix because I like superheros and needed something else -_- What didn't you like about this past season? Are you watching anything else currently?
