About this picture

I finally got around to uploading this. Comparing the two, Megahouse was $300 and Oniri was $1K and it’s obvious which one looks way better. I really hope a better company can pick this series up.

I bought the RAH one, but am still waiting on a good statue/figure of him...

Sekhmet6 maand(en) geleden#75545280He is indeed a pretty boy, let’s hope he gets some justice with this doll ;A; If the doll ends up looking good, I’ll probably get him. It’d be my first smart doll but I need anything with Light orz. I was actually hoping for some type of wonfes announcement for some more Death Note figures but alas, with the exception of like three things wonfes sucked yet again this time around....yeah I really hope L is better than their Light. I’ll be forever wishing for a better company to take notice of DN. I will give Oniri some points though as I undoubtedly know that if they hadn’t made that Light/Ryuk figure (that was a well received surprise but not well received upon release) then megahouse and GSC wouldn’t have given a shit about making figures for it. Oniri at least proved there was still a demand for Death Note figures. Who would’ve thought one of the most popular anime in the world still had a fan base and a want for figures? //rolls eyes at literally every company who snubbed DN back then and now//

I hear good things about Smart Dolls, if you ignore their price LOL. I'm not much into dolls myself at all, but I think the Smart Doll clothes that are also in the database here, look of super high quality, especially the denim material items.

Nope, nothing DN this Wonfes. Maybe it was just a short 'burst' with the Nendo, Oniri and MegaHouse items so closely released to eachother. Maybe once DN does their 20th or 25th anniversary we can expect some new content or merchandise? The 20th anniversary of YGO gave us a movie with glorious animation (and a better story than expected!) together with some scaled and prize figures. We can dream something like that will happen with DN as well. :)

You know, now that a Western manufacturer has picked DN up, I wouldn't be surprised if Tsume has interest in the license as well? Tsume has done a lot of 'older' licenses with big fan bases. And you'll be sure their quality is better than Oniri and MegaHouse.

Yeah I remember from a couple of years ago when we only had the Griffon Light as a bigger/high quality figure out there, while both the anime and manga are classics! But at least I'm glad I am not getting bothered so much anymore by people trying to buy the Light off me. ^^'' Next to it looking so good, it's a really special figure for me, so I rather not sell it unless I would ever be in some kind of money issues.

Maakie6 maand(en) geleden#75187637Well, Light is more of a pretty boy, so let's hope it will be more like: ITEM #861008 ? They basically have a doll ready to become Light with some small changes here and there: ITEM #228598 (I don't really expect that we will have accurate manga style proportions with an item like this).
Do you think you will get the Smart Doll Light if he looks at least somewhat decent? Or is it expensive territory you don't dabble into?
With both of Oniri's DN pieces I really like the posing and set-up, with the new L also that small diorama he's in, but...yeah I would have felt very soured myself as well if I had your experience. :( I'm at least glad that I own the Griffon Light and I guess I'll never let him go, as there is no other piece of DN merch out (yet) of that quality. I do think that the prototype of Oniri's L is already a lot more promising than their Light, so I hope for a good and improved piece!

Sekhmet6 maand(en) geleden#75055795Ohh...no..noo that looks terrible I hope they don’t do Light like that x_x let’s hope not ;A;
Oniri’s looks good from afar, it really does have a presence in the room and is a pretty amazing looking piece overall not to mention it captures a lot of what DN is about but the QC issues and many broken pieces that it came with, along with Light’s terrible face make this a hard to swallow purchase. I feel sad that after all these years, this is all we get for the main character of one of the most recognizable anime in the world. I did buy Oniri’s L, his face seems to at least be better than Light’s, for now. I hope this isn’t another disappointing purchase, though I’m still baffled they made a figure of Watari and not one of L and Light together. I’m still hoping for Alter, GSC, or Figurama to pick this series up. I’ll upload pics of all the L figures I own when I get Oniri’s.

Maakie6 maand(en) geleden#74884299The RAH has an amazing face, but I always thought the clothes looked too bulky on Light. And well, we have this one coming up: ITEM #866890 . I'm curious how close to the anime it will look or that it would rather look like an normal Smart Doll. It's almost impossible it will be something similar like ITEM #518719 again...right?!
Thanks for uploading these pictures by the way. I was really close to ordering the Oniri Light, but already found the prototype to be a bit off, which withheld me because of the high price for the piece. It's so saddening us Light fans can't seem to score. :( Well, except for Griffon. Griffon's not perfect, but at least there is not much to complain about that one except for how brittle the material is.

Sekhmet6 maand(en) geleden#74652824Griffon’s is by far the better figure sculpt and paint/face wise. Next would be the RAH one. I plan to upload a comparison of all four soon. Funny enough, Griffon’s was the cheapest for me followed by the RAH, so the two oldest and cheapest ones are the better looking ones by far. Maybe one day a good company can pick up the license and give us the Light figure we deserve.

flyingteapot6 maand(en) geleden#74584618Oh man, I'm so sorry you ended up paying so much :( Hope it wasn't a strain on your budget. This is one of the reasons I'm now waiting for detailed photos of figures before deciding if they're worth it, because prototype and pre-order photos sometimes end up being different than the final product or the companies take photos from their better angles...
Pixelated eyes?! smh :(
Sorry you had this experience.
Yeah and it was made worse by the fact mine arrived with some broken pieces including the scythe and a terribly painted hand. They did replace the scythe but still, it was upsetting to see. I think they were too ambitious and just didn’t know how to handle painting and also packaging something like this. Maakie6 maand(en) geleden#74635956Meanwhile at Griffon PICTURE #222243 (a manufacturer that normally gets bashed to no end)Griffon’s is by far the better figure sculpt and paint/face wise. Sekhmet6 maand(en) geleden#74584379Oniri’s was definitely the bigger disappointment, especially because I paid literally almost $1000 with shipping. The hair sculpt itself is a complete mess, I’m not sure how a $300 figure won over a $1k figure in that department but the hair on Megahouse’s is far superior in sculpt and execution here. And Light’s Face, it looks cleaner and better on Megahouse but you are correct, neither got it quite right. And for some reason, the Oniri one had pixelated eyes. Yes, you read that right. When you look close at his eyes it’s almost as if they found some scan of his eyes online then magnified it and glued them on. The Megahouse eyes look great though at least. And I’m not sure why/how but they painted his eyebrows on the Oniri one and the result is terrible. From afar, Oniri’s does look good and definitely had a presence in the room but all the small flaws are highly disappointing. I did end up ordering L from them, fingers crossed he looks better. Still was a dumb decision to add Watari though.
Megahouse L does look almost spot on, just a bit too young looking but at least they were exactly like their prototype so you knew what you were getting. I still think the best Light figure out there is the Griffon one but unfortunately he’s hard to come by nowadays. I plan to upload a comparison like this with Griffon And RAH Light. Those two look better than either of these.
