That date is usually an estimate. NY just likes to charge you early, even if the figure's release is not final.

Only 24 cm high for a 1/6? How is that possible? She doesn't crouch down that much.

Freezasaurus (6 maand(en) geleden) #41170912Well, the initial price hike by manufacturers was a direct result of that time the yen dropped down to a 120:1 exchange rate to the USD. Eventually, figure makers raised the prices to compensate, and people continued to pay because hey, the prices were now essentially what they were paying originally, anyway. But then the yen strengthened once again and manufacturers never bothered to lower the prices, because people continued to pay whatever price without a care. Which basically equates to the meme with the cartoon dog in a burning room saying "This is fine." Now we're at a point where 15k-20k is considered "normal."
For me living in Australia, all of this combined with a falling AUD, i have to simply stop collecting all together, including canceling a lot of pre-orders as i simple cannot afford to face upwards of $1000 AUD figure bills each month, despite having a well paying job! I'ts crushing because i love the hobby and want to support the industry through collecting figures and merch but its just getting beyond expensive.

Kirito-dono (6 maand(en) geleden) #41136321This is the most sane thing I have ever heard on MFC. And I totally agree with you. I am just glad that somebody told the truth as it is instead of - ''The prices are normal'' or my personal favorite - ''If you don't like the price, don't buy it''.

Freezasaurus (7 maand(en) geleden) #39261558We're getting to a point now where the pricing is just getting to be too much. 20k, even for a 1/6 is just silly. And a lot of people are leaving the hobby because of it. I'm pretty sure I'm going to be done within the next six months outside of Kotobukiya bishoujos and the occasional other piece that ticks enough boxes for me.
