Hello all,
Thank you for reading this.
Straight to the point, I enjoyed last weekend building a plamodel but not the typical plamodel, instead a Bishojo Plamodel, which is recently getting an increase in popularity.
So here is the Cross Frame Girl - Dark Magician Girl

Even the box comes up with a very nice & cute illustration of DMG.

The main selling point of this kit. The expression of her face (all pre-printed so no need to do it your self) which is accurate to the manga. Also included the decals version for those who desired to paint the kit. I actually hope that Kotobukiya will give a different kind of expression decals but this is not the case. It is exactly the same as printed ones.

All runner parts inside the box. At first when I heard that this is going to be a model kit, I wonder how good it will be straight building it out of the box.
Since Kotobukiya already used to making Bishojo plamodel, so i guess they should have no issues with it. So I'm so very excited to build this one.
Previously Kotobukiya did release all Yu-Gi-Oh! figures & I owned the DMG 1/7 so I expected the kit would be good.

The body part, pretty surpised to see corset without her manto, the upper cloth pieces. As I already finished watching & reading Yu-Gi-Oh Duel monster back in my childhood days, I'm not quite remember if DMG really had this form.

Finished (Woah...so cute). With simple & easy to understand manual guidebook, the kit can be completed in a single night.
Below are the pics of her.

Overall, I give this kit a 8/10.
The articulation is just average, but still good and able to do many poses. Just to note that some of parts need to be painted in order to look good but just her necklace, star mark emblem & spell book cover.
I think if you never build a plamodel, the manuals are pretty easy to follow. Just be careful when cutting out the parts out of its runner. Also point note, the hair parts tips are actually very sharp,be careful when play with her. LOL
Good Point:
1. Size Bigger than Figma
2. More accurate expressions to manga
3. Bright pastel colors, even without painting the colors are accurate.
4. Plastic material seems stronger than Gunpla PS.
5. Included Clear Purple stand base with magic mark.
6. It is a plamodel, means the possibility to custom work on her quite available.
7. Another Dark Magician Girl to be added to your collection ;)
Bad Point:
1. Articulation just average, but I don't think DMG no need to be too articulated.
2. It is a Model Kit not figure, as some people might not like it.
3. Some parts need to be painted (very few though)
4. Seam lines can be seen.
I do hope Kotobukiya will release Dark Magician as well, so I could decorated them altogether, even Yami Yugi. I only had DMG Figma, Yugi & Kaiba Figma aftermarket prices are crazy & that is why I still cannot buy it.

Had to purchase this! arriving soon and shes still up on amiami NEW.
Also I've seen videos where they confirm she can lift skirt parts up (lifting the gold piece somehow and then individually moving the skirt pieces) and lower her leg joint in order to be able to sit down which which is actually pretty damn amazing articulation, probably around A or even A+ especially considering how limited her figma is (C-).
So the articulation might not be so bad afterall!
She looks so cute and I really like the box. I‘m currently still waiting patiently for mine to arrive and to be honest I‘m a bit nervous on building her since she’s gonna be my first model kit. But it’s definitely relieving to hear that she has easy to follow instructions :3
I‘m really hoping they will do more Yugioh figures like this, especially Seto Kaiba!
thank you for your comment. Agree with that. I hope for other characters so I could put it altogether. Hope yours will come soon and build it safely :)
even i myself quite shocked the finished build. It does really look like a figure. Kotobukiya really did a good job for this one.
I haven’t put together any model kit style figures in a minute but with easy enough instruction I’m sure it’ll be alright
Great review !hello, thank you for your feedback. Sure I hope once you receive it you could assembly it safely. Just be careful with her hair tip, it is really sharp :)
