Hey! I was just curious if anyone else is having problems with ems right now? (With Brexit and Tier 5) I can expect a delay, but I haven’t been updated since it left Tokyo which was nearly 3 weeks ago. I just want to make sure my package isn’t lost as it’s never taken this Long before? Has anyone from the uk recently chose ems as their shipping method? Probably a bit stupid on my part to choose ems with everything that’s going on right now, but any help would be appreciated!

Okay... that is why I said what I know about personal shoppers, so whoever reads that comment knows so they can use it. I don't understand the problem you have, I'm sorry I'm confused as to where you're issue is with my previous comment.
Besides, this thread is to talk about the delays, which is affecting every shipping method according to the Japan post website, the UK as a whole is delayed regardless of shipment method.
Not everyone uses online retailers to buy their figures, and not everyone will use the same method I use too. Everyone gets their figures differently.
That's great for you - I also have a friend over there who kindly sends things to me occasionally - but the vast majority of people don't do that and do buy from retailers, so this is going to affect the majority.
So I think all of us should be a bit more patient during this time. :/
No, I buy from a personal shopper in Japan, she's a friend so I don't pay a business, I give her the money to buy the stuff and she ships directly to me. Plus personal shoppers aren't registered businesses so it doesn't apply to those who use personal shoppers or who have friends, I don't use a business.

I am aware of possible changes to charges
See my article thread/17447
The postal delays are not related.
We may get more charges for low priced items but the charges have always been there, the handling fee and vat have been around for at least the last 10 years that i am aware of, the low value items used to just get waived through, really they should have been charged, now they are enforcing charging on all parcels, in theory at least. they say to level the playing field with EU suppliers.
I had one parcel come through recently which had no charge, was not listed as gift and had the price listed as 16000 yen, so it's still luck of the draw as it was before.
And we are customers buying from businesses, so it affects us and our shipments.
The charges are for buisnesses only, so from person to person the rules have not changed, only for buisnesses to customers or buisnesses to buisness etc. I hope this clears it up a bit :)
That may be so, but the new charges I mentioned are entirely to do with Brexit.
I have a package from the 13th of December that's been stuck because of the lack of flights and another package shipped last week, it's because Japan has had another surge in Covid cases therefore they've closed their borders again. It's not clear when packages will be shipped out normally again, they're shipping out whatever they can once essentials have been loaded.
I hope this helps, I thought my package was lost and after speaking with my friend in Japan who spoke to the Japan office, because my japanese isn't quite good enough yet to speak to them yet, they clarified how everything is delayed and it says on their website. I was worried my package was lost too but it's just delayed.
Parcels leaving Japan are nothing to do with Brexit and all to do with the pandemic
We had gifts sent by friends that have only just arrived even though they were posted in Japan at the beginning of December, also i had a figure arrive that was posted at the beginning of December, no tracking update until it actually arrived.
We have had a few parcels, definitely they are taking longer, some with tracking appearing to sit at the airport for a week or two.
To begin with the delays were not to bad, i would say it's gotten worse the last few months.

Give some indication of which countries are having problems
Here is one from Germany

Indicates that higher volumes of parcels along with corona virus are causing problems, so expect delays
Here is one from holland

Expect delays from the far east
So it's not just the UK that is being affect
We just have to have a bit more patience at the moment.
