So, we all know from here or from personal experience that AmiAmi has certain no-cancellation policy. I personally succesfully cancelled from them in the past several times and was quite nervous that they might not be very pleased with another cancellation I had in mind for quite some time now.

During that Godoka ITEM #98665 hype I ordered her first at AmiAmi but then gave in to the timely 50% off shipping campaign at HobbySearch (and gods know HS packs their boxes better). I decided that I might get both figures or just cancel the AmiAmi one when November comes.

But today I saw this ITEM #98783. I was fascinated by the gorgeous Momohime ITEM #27637 long before that, but her re-release is scheduled for November and I just couldn't afford ordering her in case AmiAmi wouldn't cancel my second Godoka. Still, seeing these two colourful ladies made me think 'What the hell!' and I decided to contact AmiAmi and try to replace Godoka with Momohime. That's what I wrote to them:

View spoilerHide spoilerMessage: Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to you with a rather delicate question. There is an item on my order ######### I do not want anymore, yet there are two others which I would like to order instead of this one item. They come as a set and one is also scheduled for November, namely FIG-MOE-1726 and FIG-MOE-7355. I would love to have them both but I can only afford one expensive figure in November. So, if possible, I would really appreciate it if you could replace FIG-MOE-5949 with FIG-MOE-1726 in my order #########.

I appreciate your help, thank you very much in advance.

Best regards,
####

I didn't expect them to answer the same day, but they did answer in a couple of hours! And I've been ever more pleased when I saw this:

View spoilerHide spoilerHello ####.

Thank you for ordering with AmiAmi.

Order ######### has been canceled as requested.

1 x Puella Magi Madoka Magica - Ultimate Madoka Complete Figure

Order cancellation is not accepted in principle at our store, however.
While we can cancel your order this time, we would ask that you try to keep cancellations to a minimum in the future.

If you have any questions, or concerns, please feel free to contact us here.

And the second e-mail right after Cancellation Notice:

View spoilerHide spoilerHi, ####.

Thank you for mailing us.

We have canceled the item as a courtesy, but please keep in mind that we generally do not accept cancellations, even if customers intend to "replace" the item with other items.

We are unable to add items to customer orders. Please place a new order for the items you wish to purchase.

Thank you for shopping at AmiAmi.

Sincerely,
AmiAmi

So it worked out just fine! AmiAmi trusts customers to the extent that they cancel an expensive figure while not forcing you to order the items you 'intend' to replace the cancelled one with.

I ordered Momohime and Kongiku straight away. There's some Alter beauty for me ^___^

Thank you for reading this long. Now I am even more certain that AmiAmi is the most awesome store of all the awesome. They really value their loyal customers and trust them.

AmiAmi always says the same crap to customers but if you order hundred$$$ of dolar$$ worth of stuff there, they tend to be more lenient on cancellations.

hipozaurus is trying her best!
I was using HS for 3 years now and didn't have any problems with them until they made Cancellation Rules. Now they're a bit a pain in the ass. I e-mailed them 2 days ago and asked about cancelling Madokami (since I won't be able to pay for my January orders if I pay for her). They declined and said they can't allow me to cancel anything more, because I cancelled few times in the past (this was 3rd or 4th time I think). So I think AmiAmi is better in this, even though they tell you that they don't generally allow cancellations. And additionally a bit lower prices (generally for scale figures 500 yen lower than on HS) and more shipping options (though I use only 1 or 2 of them) are definitely for plus. :)

AmiAmi nicely told me my account was in real danger the last time I had to cancel something -_- I know it's a pain for them but when something unexpected happens it can't be helped and for popular items, I mean...c'mon, it's not like they won't be able to sell it. If AmiAmi had a cancellation policy they would truly be the greatest store ever.

Seasonreaper (6 jaar geleden) #1204545I must admit, I've never really used AmiAmi for anything.

I generally use HLJ since I like the option of being able to cancel items if something unexpected comes up, plus I've had no problems with them so far. I've also used Hobby Search quite a bit and had very little problems with them, although I did have one slight argument with them when my card was declined due to a banking fine I didn't even know was going to occur, forcing me to cancel after they'd already calculated shipping and everything.

My most recent order was from AmiAmi though and they seemed to be a good store. Fast delivery, plenty of shipping options and their store is easy to use. Since it was an item which was already released (GSC's Kyouko Sakura scale) I didn't have to worry about not having the money at the time of release since I paid for it immediately.

A figure I really wanted came back in stock on HLJ as "low stock" so I placed an order, and it said I'd receive a confirmation email, a few hours later, still no email, I checked the figure again maybe to re-order, she was sold out, I emailed them and they say they had no order from me... Last time I use HLJ for anything.

I actually switched from HS to AmiAmi, because of better prices and more shipping options.

And so far the packages I've received from them have been nicely packed.

It's nice that they let you cancel, I have something at HS that I wish I could cancel, but not likely to happen.

iTheShirt (6 jaar geleden) #1173852Never liked AmiAmi.

Hobby Search is much more friendly with transactions and the like.

They are very unfriendly with shipping. I hate using EMS which is just a loss of money when it comes to dealing with EMS Russian Post. And HS only offers EMS for big packages. That's the only reason I'm not using them as my main store now.

wingman13 (6 jaar geleden) #1160468What, you plan on ruining it for everyone?
Well that's certainly his only option especially when no one wants to buy his figures he immediately gets buyer's remorse with.

Rin_Asano (6 jaar geleden) #1161324Yeah last packages from AmiAmi aren't not so good too, but last package from HS with Shizuo and mawaru figma, some boxes arrived ruined.. and there weren't paper around them :\

amiami didn't put some paper on the bottom.. and it's a bit silly cause in other part sometimes I have 10-15 cm of paper XD

Well, let's hope HS will do a better job with Godoka. The period is also risky - December shipping is HELL.

Agree with AmiAmi's inconsistency. It's just illogical to put a lot of paper everywhere but the to the bottom.
