long hairs in blister packaging?long hairs in blister packaging?

cringecringe16 dag(en) geledenAsk MFC
hello. i just got this figure in from mandarake today ITEM #166940 (opened and used). when i inspected inside there were multiple long black hairs in the blister packaging.

i'm just wondering if that's the nature of that type of plastic shell because when i started to touch it, a bunch of my cat's hairs were starting to stick to it as well

i wiped the blister packaging with clorox wipes and now i will let it sit out for a few hours

is this concerning or has this happened to anyone else at all?

Plastic can generate a static charge which will attract hair (just like balloons can do), so yes, it can 'adhere' to plastic sometimes.

Can also confirm long hair has a tendency to get everywhere, and occasionally I'll just randomly moult which doesn't help lol. Though if I sell something, I will normally do a hair and dust inspection.

Have received hair with used figures before (if it happens, it's like 1 or 2 strands). Imo it isn't a big deal. Hair's likely less of a carrier of disease than the hands that put the figure back in the box tbh. Whilst it isn't the most pleasant of discoveries, I don't personally think it is worth any extra concern. Maybe an extra hand wash after disposing of it, but viruses don't tend to last long on inorganic surfaces.

My tapestries from Mandarake just came today as well. My tapestries were inspected and held by NY custom for two weeks. The tapestries were nicely packed in the blister packaging, but the plastic packaging of one of the tapestries smells very bad like urine. The tapestry itself is fine. Since I am not hanging the tapestries now, I still need the plastic packaging. I wiped all three tapestries packaging three times and washed the one that has the smell. I never have any issues with Mandarake. I guess it's just on one occasion.

cringe (16 dag(en) geleden) #76863855i actually used dhl so it came here in about 3 days. should i leave it in the box for a few more days and leave it on my closet?

Depends how paranoid you feel. Wouldn't really matter where you leave it, so long as you're not fiddling with it (so you could put it on your desk, then wash your hands). Viruses mostly spread by making you cough/sneeze them directly at other people, with touching stuff then your face as a secondary option. This is what the CDC has to say about it: www.cdc.gov/cor...

I think since it's been open and used it makes sense that there could be hair in there, wether its from animal or person. I would just clean the figure and perhaps clean the box/packaging if you're planning on keeping the box.

That is exactly why I don´t buy opened figures...

The most disgusting thing someone sent me was a polyresin fairy statue that clearly came from a home of heavy smokers - the statue had a yellow tar coat and was stinking like hell. I managed to clean that after some heavy scrubbing with a toothbrush but man was I disgusted.

cringe (16 dag(en) geleden) #76863849thanks for the feedback. do you think it's okay to put her on display already since she's been used and with corona going on and everything? i was going to put her on my computer desk

If you're not planning to lick it and wash hands before touching your face/eating transmission is unlikely. There was some (currently) unverified results that the virus can live for 3 days on plastic, though similar viruses can live up to 9 days. If the figure has been in the post for 9 days or longer, it's unlikely anything survived the trip.
