Hello everybody! I haven't done a review in a really long time - I actually looked back through my past articles and found that the last review I wrote was 2 years ago. In that article, I stated that I finally had a better camera (new phone), and since I upgraded my phone last month, I guess it's the same for this article.

Today, as I was unboxing my latest (gigantic) AmiAmi shipment, I was unpacking ITEM #604392 and was suddenly
inspired to make a review of her! While I do open a lot of my figures to check for damage/defects, I don't display all of them.

I'm not 100% satisfied with the quality of the lighting, and my natural lighting was kind of fading since I took these photos about one hour before the sun set. And I am aware of the wrinkles on the sheet I put the figure on...

I have to admit I considered cancelling this figure, but now I'm glad I didn't, because she turned out beautiful! ...honestly, I didn't have super high expectations. This might not be a popular opinion, and I admittedly don't have that many Max Factory figures, but the last few figures I got from them had some awkward QC errors. My copy of ITEM #604386 came with numerous, noticeable, paint scrapes
on his ponytail, and let's not forget about his floating left foot (due to lack of a peg). Earlier this year, I purchased ITEM #464629, and she, too, came with multiple paint scrapes on her hair. But before I get too off course, let me show off this figure:

~Box/Packaging: 8/10

Not much to say about the box - it isn't anything exceptional or special, but it adequately protects the figure, and it's visually appealing. You get plenty of photos of the figure. Inside the plastic blister, there's a plastic sheet covering the base, and a plastic sheet between the figure's neck and body (tipping you off that you can remove the head).

~Posing: 9/10

Her pose is interesting enough; while I've definitely seen some more "dynamic" Mikus (there are so many Miku figures out there!), this one is fine for her price point. She matches the prototype exactly. I'm not sure if this figure was based off an illustration or not, I didn't see one in MFC's photos.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/12/07/2344728.jpeg

I mentioned before that this figure's head comes off. Now, headless Miku might look a bit odd, but hear me out - I really appreciated this feature. Especially because Miku's left pigtail is extremely difficult to attach.

I'm clumsy and prone to breaking figures, so I appreciated being able to remove the head, making it easier to hold as I pushed in the left pigtail as hard as I could. Eventually, it popped in, but it did stress me out a little bit. Her right pigtail, thankfully, is not so hard to attach. (I took this picture after setting her up for the first time, and I wasn't crazy about trying to put the left pigtail in a second time!)

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/12/07/2344733.jpeg

A lot of other Miku figures might benefit from being made this way because I feel like more often than not, her pigtails are really hard to get into her head (ITEM #604596 comes to mind). I was going to give this figure 8/10 for Posing but felt like I had to add an extra point for this.

~Sculpting & Painting: 7/10, 9/10

Anyway, she's a great looking figure, I haven't put her in my cabinet yet, and I have to find a spot for her next to the rest of my Miku figures, but I'm sure she will look great on display. I'm really digging the shininess of the paint they used. Personally, I don't usually love Mikus with bright green hair, hers is a perfect shade - I'd say it's teal, with a little bit of green, but not enough to be overwhelming.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/12/07/2344719.jpeg

All her bows and ribbons are well sculpted, and well painted, in fact, they exceeded my expectations. I was expecting to find a few spots of sloppy painting or shading, especially with the shiny paint they used, but actually couldn't find any. They came out perfectly. (Here, you can also see Miku's sculpted collarbone):

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/12/07/2344720.jpeg

Her corset top is also painted pretty well - some more detail on the light pink trim might have been nice, like they did on her skirt.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/12/07/2344721.jpeg

Something about the sculpting on her stomach is really appealing. I have to be honest, it drew my attention as soon as I opened the figure.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/12/07/2344722.jpeg

Anyway, my only real point of complaint about the sculpting on this figure is her hands. The only way I can describe it is they look too "blobby" to me. The anatomy is kind of off. And the painting on her nails isn't perfect. But I figure hands are probably difficult to sculpt.

They do match the prototype, though. So I guess they didn't misrepresent anything.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/12/07/2344742.jpeg

While we're looking at her mic, I may as well add a few shots of that. Although it also matches the prototype, I do feel like it doesn't look "crystal like" enough to convince me that it's actually a crystal. It's clearly just a piece of clear plastic.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/12/07/2344744.jpeg

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/12/07/2344745.jpeg

Back up to her head - her crown and rose are perfectly sculpted, no complaints there. I'm glad the rose came out looking good. It's a common area for details to be omitted.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/12/07/2344747.jpeg

(This is not the crown's actual color, but I used a penlight to show the details on the crown since it wasn't totally obvious in my natural lighting)

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/12/07/2344746.jpeg

About her hair, I have no complaints about the color, and the sculpting on her head is fine (even with the usual seam). I would just like to add that the pigtails are clear plastic, and are shaded darker at the ends. But inside them, you can see they they used slots to attach and glue the strands of hair together. I actually thought they were large air bubbles when looking them over. Not really noticeable from the front, but you'll definitely see them if you're looking for them. (Keep in mind, these are very zoomed in photos)

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/12/07/2344749.jpeg

Going now to her back: I really like this chain on her sleeve, it came out great:

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/12/07/2344750.jpeg

The sculpting on her back is perfect, and the back of her corset came out well:

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/12/07/2344752.jpeg

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/12/07/2344751.jpeg

About her skirt, there are a lot of things I really like about it. For starters, I love the semi-translucent pink piece in the front, it actually shows the outline of her thigh. (No other details to be seen, though!) The pink lace parts on the skirt actually came out looking better than they did on the corset.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/12/07/2344753.jpeg

I removed her mic to get a few shots of the back of her skirt. The textures and shading all came out looking great. And it has multiple layers to give the perfect amount of "poofiness".

Okay, I actually lied about there being no other details to see in the front. It's not easy to see through the skirt, but if you look underneath, her underwear (looks more like a g-string at least from the front, Idk if this is intentional or not) is totally sculpted. With lace and everything. (This picture was very difficult to take properly, so it's not something that can easily be seen)

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/12/08/2344839.jpeg

This is cutting a little bit into the discussion about the base, but here are some shots of her feet. Again, the painting is clean on her legs, and everything is sculpted appropriately, but I had to ask why they decided to paint the ribbons a different shade from the shoes. Nope, it's not a trick of the lighting. This is the only shading on this figure that I took any issue with.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/12/08/2344773.jpeg

I'd say she is definitely above average in this section, but there were a few minor issues to take notice of (mainly with her pigtails, hands, and coloring on her shoes). So I had to give her a 7/10 (sculpting) with her painting better, at 9/10. Although I doubt too many people would notice these minor imperfections when the figure is on display.

~Base: 9/10

So from the previous section you can already see that her base is a mirror: this was definitely an unusual choice considering I'm pretty sure I've only seen that on castoff figures (ITEM #209601 comes to mind).

There are also roses and vines which come up around her feet. Although I don't think they came out quite as shiny as they did on some of the prototype photos.

https://static.myfigurecollection.net/upload/pictures/2019/12/08/2344777.jpeg

Of course, the function of having a mirror base is that you get some clear pantsu views (under spoiler):

~Enjoyment: 9/10

Although there are a few minor flaws which I pointed out in the "Sculpting & Painting" section, this figure exceeded my expectations in multiple areas. Her shininess and above average paint job will definitely make her stand out among my other Max Factory Mikus - in fact, among most of my other Mikus. The mirror base was also a nice surprise, considering all the other Mikus I have from MF (and their Luka) are pretty dull in this area. And out of all my figures, I think she has one of the nicest looking tummies (lol).

I think this is a really nice Miku considering her price point. She cost me only 13,940 yen and I feel like most Miku figures these days are only increasing in price.

I do have to add that a number of people complained about QC issues on their Mikus, so it's something to be aware of, although I didn't find any on my figure. Seriously, I was expecting to receive yet another Max Factory figure with QC issues.

I enjoyed making this review, and would be open to writing more. Let me know (in the comments) if there are any other figures in my collection you'd like to see a review of! (Preferably not cast-offs though, I tend to have a hard time assembling them so I'd rather only review ones I feel comfortable putting together safely.)

Thank you so much for reading!

victorviper8 maand(en) geleden#71508129Interesting review. I passed on perordering this Miku since I don't see this one getting crazy expensive post-release, but I'll pick her up eventually.
The shiny hair with the translucent finish looks good, but I agree that the mirror base is kind of a weird choice. With mirror bases, I'm always leery of scratches, and it seems like it would have made more sense to go with a white frosted base to match the vines growing out of the base, or a maroon base to match her dress might have looked good.
Thanks for the review!

I was surprised they decided to go so lewd with the mirror clearly showing the panties. I wouldn't have expected that from a Miku figure xD I can't think of any other non-castoff figures I've seen that have a mirror base?
I agree, having a solid plastic base would definitely prevent scratches/damage.
Thank you for reading!

galablue8 maand(en) geleden#71527697just wondering, can you display her without the microphone and she looks "normal", or is the microphone required?
Her hand doesn't truly grasp the microphone, it's actually attached by a tiny peg on the microphone. So without the mic, she just has an outstretched hand. (There is a tiny hole on the hand, obviously to fit the peg) So I would say yes, she would look normal.

PanchitoMatte8 maand(en) geleden#71507910This Miku was made by Max Factory, right? They did such a — well, how can I put it — peculiar blend of "sexy & sweet" with her. I've loved all of the MF scale figures. But, lately, it seems their attention to the part of sculpt that one doesn't immediately see has been exceptionally prioritized (not that I'm complaining, of course!). Miku is only a Vocaloid, but it's apparent that they wanted a bit more from of our beloved idol's form. They gave her a stripper mirror as a base and pantsu so (is 'tight' an acceptable word?) narrow that I can't quite decide whether our attention should be that sliver of fabric, or her... cheeks!! Bloody hell, I love it. I truly wonder if this is somehow a middle ground — that they actually didn't want any pantsu, but that they had to put something there after all. The only thing missing from this figure, not that it could possibly be included, is a dark room and colored spotlights. I imagine the lackluster clear plastic could be spruced up with some bright light shone through it like a prism. Maybe, give it a shot and share it on MFC?
I was totally surprised by their choice of the mirror base and the pantsu, I think this makes her the most lewd out of all my Miku figures. The mirror makes it seem like you're supposed to be able to look up there?

galablue8 maand(en) geleden#71507646thanks for the detailed review. i really liked this figure when i first saw it but was turned off because it's so dang shiny. i absolutely LOVE the mirror base idea, and her pantsu is pretty spectacular and not so basic. her shoes are pretty great. i just wish she wasn't so shiny, but that's just me.
there is one thing i really dislike about this figure but i'll leave it underneath a spoiler because i would never want to ruin a figure for someone, or have them see something they can't unsee. otherwise, great review, thank you so much!
View spoilerHide spoilerher microphone is so phallic looking to me. someone on the MFC page for this figure said her microphone looked like a butt plug. i can kind of see that, but to me it looks more like a different kind of sex toy ... anyway, yeah, once i saw that i couldn't unsee it.

OH yeah,

I had seen that comment too! I can see where they're coming from with that. Luckily, it didn't stick in my head too hard.

The thing that makes the microphone kind of meh for me is the cheap plastic appearance, like it's the kind of thing that would come with a Barbie doll. It doesn't ruin the figure for me, don't get me wrong. But I don't rate the mic as one of its strong points.
