PAX West + Your Experiences/Recommendations?PAX West + Your Experiences/Recommendations?

noctisitynoctisity8 maand(en) geledenAsk MFC
Hi there MFC, due to some fortunate circumstances, I will be attending PAX West for the first time in a few weeks. However, I only have a pass for Sunday so I want to make the most of my day there. I browsed through the PAX forums a bit hoping to gain more insight, but they didn't quite hit on the shopping side of things which is what I'm most interested in.

I'm assuming a vendor/exhibitor list will be posted closer to the date? So perhaps I'm asking this a bit too early, but can I expect much when it comes to (exclusive) figures/merchandise? Will there also be indie artists with booths there or will it mostly be gaming-related companies?

Since I'm attending on the third day, I realize a lot will probably be sold out so I'm keeping an open mind about everything.

Somewhat unrelated questions since I'm always curious about other people's personal experiences:
  • For those who have attended before, I was wondering what your favorite part(s) of the event was? (e.g. panels, shopping, tournaments, etc.)
  • Would you have any recommendations for a first-timer? Just a note that I'm not too interested in exploring Seattle outside of the con itself and won't be going out of my way for tournaments/autographs.

Thank you in advance. I look forward to your responses!

cheekerbean (8 maand(en) geleden) #38843826View spoilerHide spoilerI wouldn't expect anything much in terms of anime figures. It isn't like an anime convention where there's a "dealer's hall" full of anime figures. The convention focuses on games (video games and board or card games) mostly. A vast majority of the Booths are selling merch for games with companies like Sanshee and Fan Gamer selling their online merch at the con. So if you're interested in purchasing merch that's already available online you'll be able to do so there without paying shipping.
My favorite part of the event is all the free stuff booths give out. You can easily make the rounds on the floor to grab a bunch of cool lanyards/pins/other stuff. Playing demos for games is also really cool but just know if there's a BIG title you want to play you're going to have to wait in a long line or get there before they cap the line. Nintendo and Playstation tend to have an online queue system for their lines.
Since you're going for one day I would recommend downloading the PAX West app and mapping out what you want to do. There should be an update once the vendor list is out so you'll have access to a full map of the convention center. Since you're going on day 3 I would also recommend stalking the PAX Reddit or Forums because people will post cool things they've gotten from booths or cool demos there.
Good luck and have fun!

Thank you for all the advice! I didn't even consider looking on the PAX Reddit/Forums so that'll definitely help me find things to look out for. :D
