Sample - 1/6 clothes on RAH bodiesSample - 1/6 clothes on RAH bodies

OkenoOkeno6 maand(en) geledenReview
I don't know whether to call this a review or something else, but I think it counts as a review. I'm following-up on my own question from half a year ago about whether generic 1/6 clothes would fit on an RAH body (BLOG #34797) to review my own attempt.

TL;DR Generic 1/6 clothes can work on a RAH body, although not perfectly, but good enough that I'm going to buy more. So if you have an RAH and wanted to try, it's probably worth a try. If it is meant for a Phicean or Hot Toys body, there's a decent chance it will work for an RAH.
male ones may be looser though, depending on the build.

What I bought

I broke down and decided to buy some 1/6 clothes on e-bay to give it a try on my RAH Shirou and Rin. I picked black office suits from China as my first try (male suit and female suit - lots of other places to buy them from) cause I thought matching suits would be cool.

Pictures

I'll put the pictures first and my "review" / comments later. This is not a picture heavy review since my review of the RAH Shirou and Rin (BLOG #34269) go into more detail about the RAH body structure and style. The pictures aren't particularly fancy. I'm waiting on another accessory and I have some plans later.

Review - Female Suit

The female suit I bought has six pieces:
  • fishnet stockings x2 (with and without feet - I think if you want to put it on a figure with boots or something)
  • black skirt
  • white shirt
  • black blazer
  • high heeled shoes

RAH Rin's clothes are easily removed (see my review BLOG #34269) so it was easy to swap.

Overall, the female suit was more successful (as I thought it might since the typical female toy's body is slim whether anime or realistic).

Fishnet stockings

Although RAH Rin comes with full body tights too, I wanted to try what I bought. I used the one with feet since I wanted to use the high heeled shoes. The stocking legs are quite short for a typical RAH female figures legs (no surprise since RAH figures have anime proportions). I had to remove the two spacers in Rin's legs to get as short as possible but even then it didn't completely come up to the figures crotch, but perfectly useable and you can't tell because of the skirt anyway. Looks good, I think.

But I think the lesson is, if you're going to buy 1/6 female leggings, get stockings, not tights, and budget the space for the feet.

Black skirt

I thought it might be too loose on the waist, but it's actually fine. The hips are wider so it doesn't slide down, and the blazer and shirt cover the waist.

White shirt and black blazer

This was kind of interesting. Since the stockings were too short I figured the shirt and jacket would be too tall and too big on the body and arms. And I was only partly right. The shirt and jacket are too big on the body.
They hang loose and are not as form fitting as they should to show off an hourglass type figure. But they are not too tall on the body. And the shoulders are fine - I was worried about an 80's shoulder pad look, but it's not there. As for the arms, they are slim on the arms and not baggy at all. In fact, they might be a little short on the arms as they tend to ride up in posing and I had to pull the white shirt sleeves out with tweezers otherwise they'd bunch up at the elbows.

Overall, sometimes they look a little baggy on the body depending upon how you pose (if I had skill to bring them in on the back it would help), but overall, they look good in most poses and it's easy to hide.

High heeled shoes

These were what I was worried about the most. Clothes are flexible, but the shoes would be hard plastic - would they fit at all? This was a big decision point since you can buy these suits with or without shoes, but RAH Rin's shoes are not dress shoes, so I felt I needed them

Fortunately they fit! They are a little too big and not tight enough at the ankle (probably use a little blue tack if the pose needs it), but very useable, which is good, because I want different colors and styles. RAH female feet are already designed for high heels (Rin's shoes had plastic spacers to adjust for the fact they don't have heels) so it looks good. I feel confident with the poseability of RAH feet that I could use a variety of 1/6 shoes and boots now.

Review - Male Suit

The male suit I bought has five pieces:
  • black pants
  • white shirt
  • black blazer
  • black tie (untied)
  • black dress shoes

RAH Shirou has a very slim body (as you can see in my review (BLOG #34269 they add this weird black scuba suit type thing to the legs to make them thicker for his jeans) so I suspected there might be scale problems since the 1/6 suit was made for a realistic and more muscled/toned body type. So I decided I would only take off his jacket. I'd keep his "scuba suit", jeans, and jersey on and put the suit on top so all the body parts would be thicker. Which I think was a good call, as I'll describe later.

In person, it frequently looks like it's a little kid wearing adult clothes, but in the pictures I took, I was really surprised it looked ok. So it's not a great success, but it's not bad. I'm satisfied and I feel I can take the pictures I want.

Black pants

After the experience with the female stockings, I thought the pants might be too short, but they are actually the perfect length and the waist is just about right as well. I didn't have to take off any spacers. They are not loose at the waist, and there's enough space to tuck in the white shirt. In fact, unlike Shirou's default jeans, there's enough room in the butt that he can sit without the pants riding down. So that's all positive.

But I saw right away the pant legs were really wide when I took them out of the package. I feared they'd look like parachute pants, even though I kept Shirou's jeans on underneath.

Putting them on, I definitely made the right call to keep the jeans on. I think they are still way too wide on the legs and created a "kid in father's clothing" look. But I think in the pictures, they frequently looked okay because of the dress shoe size being in the same scale as the pants. Granted, all the layers of clothes (scuba suit, jeans, black pants) hinder knee articulation a bit, but not unduly for most poses. So, a modest success.

White shirt, black blazer, black tie

There's not much to say about the tie. It came un-knotted, so I had to tie a knot, and it's really too short to do a proper windsor knot and barely long enough for a half-windsor, but I made do. It was hard to get it on. I took Shirou's head completely off once for my review and I was nervous it would break at the joint since the joint is so thin, So I removed Shirou's face plate first so that his head was thinner and that was enough to get my knotted tie over the neck.

As for the shirt and blazer, they are way too big for Shirou's slim frame. Fortunately, height wise, the blazer is only a little too long, and the white shirt tucks in, so it's not a problem on the body. But it's made for clearly a broader/wider chest, and it rides up around his neck and looks poofy on the shoulders. I constantly have to pull it down as I pose it to minimize the "child in father's clothes" look (the more it covers the neck, the more it looks too big on him).

Unlike the pants, I regret keeping his jersey on for that reason. Having the jersey on didn't help enough with arm or chest width. I think I needed less fabric around the neck and shoulders so the shirt and blazer would pull down more. Next time!

The real problem is with Shirou's arms. The white shirt and blazer have substantially longer sleeves than Shirou's arms. Frequently it covers half his hands, and I have to constantly futz with it to keep it closer to the wrist, otherwise he looks childish. I can't just hem it because the cuff buttons would get cut off, so it'd be a bit of work for someone with poor sewing skills.

Overall, I think I got some okay pictures, but in hand, it's definitely hard to not make it look like a child wearing it due to the RAH male frame's anime proportions being soooo different from a human. I think RAH male figure proportions vary more wildly than female RAH, so this is definitely a YMMV situation. But for typical slim anime teens/young adults, probably the same result. Passable at best. I am not disappointed in my purchase since it is useable.

Black dress shoes

Like Rin, I was worried about these most. Would they fit at all?

Fortunately they fit. Like the high heels, they are a little too big and not tight enough at the ankle (probably use a little blue tack if the pose needs it), but very useable and not as prone to falling off as the heels on Rin. As I mentioned under the dress pants section of this review, the bigger shoes help keep the pant legs in scale so they don't look as baggy.

Overall

As I said at the top of the review, I'm satisfied with my purchase. The female clothes overall worked better, but both are useable so I look forward to getting more options and taking some fancier poses with nicer backgrounds than the walls of my house!

Okeno (6 maand(en) geleden) #32152645Holy crap! Is that some sort of S&M Assassin's Creed thing? Wild...

Hahaa....I have no clue, but I almost spewed my coffee when I saw it. Then I started imagining my RAH bodies in that, and well let's say I found that sight to be quite humorous. LOL...I think Genos would be my only option for pulling that off...and I think "pulling it off" is a stretch.... LOL...I guess I could put my Ninja Storm Kakashi in that...def looks like some duds he would wear. :-O

HAHA...yeah there are others worse than this one too...so be careful when you browse just a general "1/6 scale clothes" on ebay, it opens a black hole into things you can never un-see. That pose he's in right there REALLY cracks me up though....LOL, whew...good laugh this AM.

Heldrik (6 maand(en) geleden) #32134363Those clothes really look good on RAH figures, that's a fact. Especially Rin, she kinda gives off OL vibes and boy, do I like it.
Good job Okeno, I eagerly wait for more with new clothes.

Thanks! Yes, I like the OL look too, truth be told :)

Stacycmc (6 maand(en) geleden) #32121949Thanks for sharing!! I've considered getting some hooded coats...kind of the baggy look, but they can be pretty expensive (for a doll jacket you know), so hadn't pulled the trigger, but seeing your post inspires me to maybe give it a go, as like others have said....they seem to fit much better than I would've expected!! :D

Okeno (6 maand(en) geleden) #32110518Yeah! It was a pleasant surprise! I'd been thinking about buying these for a long time (which is why I posted half a year ago). I never got a great answer... I finally felt just, "to heck with it, I'll just risk it" and share the results for anyone else who was curious like me.
