1/6 clothes on RAH bodies1/6 clothes on RAH bodies

OkenoOkeno1 jaar geledenAsk MFC
Hi MFCers,

I've been mulling over buying third party clothes on e-bay or website for my Real Action Heroes (RAH) that I have. Stuff from Poptoys or other sellers from China mostly. Most are advertised for hot toys/phicen/etc 1/6 figures. And I'm aware from reading online that RAH figures tend to be a little shorter than those companies. I have no skill at sewing so I won't make my own.

Before I spend money on something that may not even fit, has anyone ever tried this before? Will 1/6 stuff like from PopToys fit RAH bodies with or without issues?

Any experience would be appreciated.

Thanks!

EDIT March 23, 2018: I broke down and ordered a male and female outfit including shoes. I'll post an article when I've received them to describe how it works out.

Not the plugsuit versions though, it's Rei and Asuka in school uniform
versions I have, these two:

Huh. It seems odd that the shirt are not velcroed on the front. Hopefully it's not stiched to the body either.

Well, no guarantees, but it would seem to me the way to try would be:
- take the shoes and socks off
- take the legs completely off at the hip (if it's like my RAH Rin, there is a straight rod that the legs connect to the main body as a swivel joint, so it should be easy to carefully twist and pull off)
- take the arms off (you can't take the shoulders off, but you there is a swivel peg that connects the upper arm into the shoulder).

Both of the above steps should be done using normal joint removal techniques of holding the toy close to both sides of the joint (shoulder and upper arm should be grabbed for the arm removal for example, not the body itself, since you are removing the arm from the shoulder, but the shoulder stays on the body.

Also, both steps are premised on the joints not being stuck. My RAH had extremely stuck upper arm swivels that took 4+ hours to remove through extremely careful actions (you can read my RAH review for more details). If your RAH body is built differently for some reason (I'm not a RAH expert, only having RAH Rin and Shirou), some things might work. For example, Rin and Shirou's arms are built the same, but Shirou's legs and hips are completely different such that I don't think I can remove Shirou's legs at the hips, unlike Rin. But that might be a male/female body construction issue too.

- use a hair dryer to heat the head (not a lot of course, depends how hot your hair dryer is) to pop off the peg (this is the most difficult and stressful removal because it is a peg joint not a swivel joint)

When you are down to the torso (with shoulders) you have a lot more options to figure out how to get the clothes off. For example, if the dress/skirt is separate from the white blouse, you can probably take it off the shoulders and then wiggle and pull down and off. With the blouse completely exposed you might see some options for removal. For example, with the arms gone and the head gone, you can probably pull it up and off the figure (like how I removed the inner shirt from my RAH Shirou).

Anyway, those are my thoughts purely based on (1) my experiences with RAH Rin and Shirou and (2) looking at pictures of the RAH you own to guess about the clothes construction. You will know better if any of this will work. But getting it down to the torso will be your best bet to start. If you want, I can post pictures of what Rin looks like down to the torso to give you an idea of what to do if my words are unclear.

Good luck! I'll be curious to hear how it goes!

As others posted, not every RAH can have clothes removed. You may be able to heat the head joint a little with a hair dryer to remove it. With the head removed you may be able to remove the clothes like normal clothes on a person (pull off the shoulders and arms) But unless there is velcro or sufficiently wide shoulders it might not do it.
You might also have luck taking off the legs or arms at the shoulders or hips. But it depends on the clothes.
Somehow I doubt a plug suit can be removed though if that's the version.

tails_prower (1 jaar geleden) #26511009I'd like to ask a question here as I have two RAH Asuka and Rei from
Evangelion and would like to have them wear some other clothes too.
How does one undress the figure as I can't see anything obvious that
their outfits can be taken off?
Thanks in advance for any answers!

Well it's useful you switched the clothes with something in a different line. Thanks!

Lehst (1 jaar geleden) #26475531Interesting. The most I've done is put the Misa RAH in a Barbie dress (hey, it was really pretty! lol)
Usually when it comes to dress-able dolls and figures of all sizes and types the hardest thing to fit is pants. Dunno if that holds true here but it's something to think about.

I would say it's definitely possible but I would still be very careful as RAH bodies can be delicate, I would suggest to try with loose fitting clothes instead of tightly fitting ones.

Yeah I heard about that so I already verified I can get the clothes off the RAH I own

Naelyth (1 jaar geleden) #26478428I've also heard that you can't fully remove some RAH's clothes, so make sure that you can take off everything on the RAH that you want to dress!

Okeno (1 jaar geleden) #26474872Thanks! Do you have some Japanese twitter accounts to suggest looking at?
It might give me some ideas if I can compare because some sites like AmiAmi and Hobby Search sell 1/6 clothes so that might help me out.
