Hentai Ouji to Warawanai Neko Tsutsukakushi Tsukushi 1/8 Review

MetalSamamonMetalSamamon3 jaar geledenReview
Thank you for the positive feedback on my latest reviews! ^^

For the next review I will post I'm going to do a new figure I just got in; another Griffon Enterprises release. From "
Hentai Ouji to Warawanai Neko / The Hentai Prince and The Stony Cat", this is 1/8 Scale Tsutsukakushi Tsukushi:

(Each photo can be clicked on to give a full-size view of the image, even if the image itself doesn't display).

Here's her in the box:

I really hate to say this at the start, but this is becoming a really bad trend: Griffon figures do not live up to the box art. Sadly this seems to be the best part of the figure; the box. There is a flap on the bottom of the box that says along the lines of "The figure inside may not reflect the images shown on the box" in English...I feel this is for a reason: They know how bad the figures are inside and don't want to be held responsible for complaints and customer dissatisfaction.

All of her parts:

Unfortunately, once again, the figure only comes with two pieces: Box and figure. Therefore a picture really isn't needed.

Out of the package, front view:

From a distance this figure looks fine, actually. The face is fairly generic though, making Tsukushi look really plain. The outfit choice was good and the overall shape and body type looks accurate and right to Tsukushi's figure. Again, this is from a distance...sadly...

From the rear:

It's really hard to see the negative aspects of this figure; even though they are shown in this picture. There are some minor problems with the hair; but it's not much...just the normal lack of clean details that Griffon seems to be notorious for. The problems are, like with the Date A Live Kurumi Tokisaki figure, with the sculpt itself...

Close-up detail:

http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800x600q90/543/e61p.jpg

While it's a bit hard to see in this picture; the legs and upper torso are actually a different skintone: The upper torso is darker than the legs. It's enough to be noticed, sadly. Also there is a huge gap where the stomach meets the shorts; something that really looks bad up close.

From the back there are even more issues. This time it's the sculpt again; showing how poorly the pieces fit together and how badly they were made overall. For some reason there is a gouge out of the top part of her back right under the black line that runs under her swimsuit top; a tremendous eyesore that looks really bad. Also on the far right of the picture you can see how much overhang her arm and back have on her bikini top as well.

Lastly is the left side of the figure...showing another huge gap problem; where her bikini top meets her breast. The sculpting on this figure is absolutely horrible when it comes to the details...it looks good from a distance, but there are so many problems with this figure when you really examine it that it's not even funny.

Overall:

While this figure may be nice to look at from a distance, it doesn't hold up for quality or detail work. The sculpt has so many gaps, poorly fit together areas and mold imperfections that this is just another example of how bad Griffon figures are and how they are not doing anything to fix it; instead letting the figures get worse and worse.

I'm really starting to hate Griffon Enterprises figures. I'm not normally one to judge a whole company this way; but after 4 figures with similar issues; I can't say anything good about them. But, for some reason, they are the only company that seems to pick up the characters I want figures of; which is a terrible thing!

Not recommended for serious collectors; only if you really want a figure of the character (better to get the Prize version). No play value; only for display and viewing at a distance.

Thanks for looking! Feel free to comment and I hope you enjoy the review!

Alienshroom (3 jaar geleden) #2046396I got the cat eared Kirino from Griffon and it has much of the same problems. Im staying away from Griffon period.

I think that's best...it's what I'm going to do as well. They really are making bad figures...sorry to hear your figure had the same issues. Glad I could help somewhat though. ^^

magicalflyer (3 jaar geleden) #2042741Why do people bash Griffon? They're good people. Once I bought a frisbee from them and they gave a me a figure for free!
Getting serious now, thanks for the review. Tsukushi is my favorite in the series, and I contemplated to buy this one before. I think Griffon's biggest fault is the price of their figures. They rival, and very often beat, even Alter in this category, with quality that lose to even the worst of Kotobukiya.. Waiting for the price to drop considerably a few months after release sometimes help. That frisbee I mentioned was sold over here at US$100 close to release date. I got a her about three months later for US$70 ^^. Still too expensive IMHO, but no one else is making a Sena figure in that getup..

Tsukushi is one of my favorites too; I really like her! I just wish they had made a better figure of her...she deserves better! >_< I don't think I've ever had a Kotobukiya or Alter figure, so I can't really say how they are on quality. ;;^^

Honestly, I do try to be fair in the reviews, but Griffon keeps making bad figures. ;^^ I don't really like it either, but until they fix it (which might be never, sadly); I'll keep telling it like it is. Probably won't get a Griffon figure again...it really sucks that they are the ones who make figures on the characters I like most...

Thanks for the reply! At least you got a frisbee out of it! ^^

astrum (3 jaar geleden) #2042027I also didn't see that it was griffon and thought she was a prize figure before getting into the blog hahaha. Seriously, it looks like she's got a lot of unnatural fat packed under her arms for it to bulge out like that, or she had some major fail lipo done just recently... Poor girl ;_; She had the wrong people done her up! Thanks for the great review, metalsamamon!

That's funny! I hope the thumbnail image isn't that misleading...it's of the figure in the review! XD

But yeah...it really does make you wonder how they could make such terrible mistakes on the figures they make. To make someone think that an anime girl had bad lipo or excessive fat is a sad testament to the lack of quality that is Griffon Enterprises and their figures.

Thank you so much though, astrum! I just hope someone else makes a good figure of her soon! Kurumi Tokisaki from Date A Live needs one too while they're at it!

Risayla (3 jaar geleden) #2042050I can't believe the price of Griffon's figures when you get uneven skin tonnes and gaps.
"Sadly this seems to be the best part of the figure; the box." Haha very sad indeed, I'm sorry you felt this way about your latest purchase, but thank you for your honest review!

Perhaps I was a bit sarcastic with the box being the best part comment; but it really is a shame just how terrible the figures that Griffon makes really are! For that price; they really should do a much better job! They could learn a few dozen things from FREEing, IMHO.

Thank you though! I'm not tremendously happy with this figure, but for now I guess I'll keep her...until a better Tsukushi comes out (I already have the prize one).
