iSomeone is using my pictures on Ebayn/a    Uitgelichte artikels (2017-02-17)

Hi,

I've noticed that someone is using my pictures to help sell his items on Ebay.

http://www.benl.ebay.be/itm/Love-Live-School-Idol-Project-Sonoda-Umi-Special-Figure-Korekara-no-Someday-/282324873992?

Is that even allowed ?

These pictures are clearly taken from my profile :

http://myfigurecollection.net/profiles.php?user=saintbe&page=pictures&sort=date&order=desc&cid=0&aid=-1&nsfw=-1&p=6

I've reached out to the Ebay-user asking him to remove the pictures before I contact Ebay.

That being said, is there a way to block this ? I understand that I can just remove them. He didn't even bother to copy them locally and is linking to them directly so removing them will also remove them from his add.

Like to hear your thoughts on this.

-----EDIT BELOW----
Actually I found out that removing the pictures from my account here does not help ... it seems the pictures are still hosted at tsuki-board.net even after I delete them here on my pictures page. That kinda blows.

Cheers !
-saintbe.

RockGodItachi (1 maand(en) geleden) #18279636Report them to E-Bay as it's copyright violation, when you upload pics to MFC they are copyright protected on this site so any use outside of MFC is violating copyright. Plus as mentioned they're also violating E-Bay's picture policy which states the pictures should be taken by you.
Youre not quit right at that. The Creative Commons license allows the use of the pictures when you make a link/reference to the owner of the picture. That makes using the picture outside this site legal. However there are some interesting exceptions. The licence won't allow the use of the pictures for making profit out of them. So using the pictures on Ebay is making profit out of the pictures and even with a link it is against the Creative Commons license.

That means the seller is probably scamming people which isn't cool. Contact ebay asap with you're original ones. The only solution I can think of is to put a water mark on your images.

Picture links in that sale are all broken now. Something has worked.

I've had good success reporting people or calling in and letting them know, and then proving I have the original photos. It's a great way to crack down on scammers.

IMO, he's probably selling a bootleg and is just using random pictures he found to make it look legit.

So it's okay to copy the pictures as long as you comply with the CC license. The seller isn't, by the way.

I never understand very well these license things, but from what I've got from the Creative Commons By-NC-ND License, if this ebay seller wanted to copy, distribute these pictures, he should have given the appropriate credits for them. So, I think the best thing to do is to report this directly to ebay if the user refuses to give the proper credits or remove the pictures from his ad.

The photo looks like it was taken at a figure event. Maybe that's why they stole it?
